Camellia Festival! Day Well Spent!

Completely well spent! So worth getting up at 8 and nearly dying of starvation on the walk back!
So, I was supposed to have met Spain but she still hadn't gotten her grades up so I was standing around for a few minutes trying to hone in on someone I know and can follow. I saw Tiff's boyfriend and followed him to where Tiff was sitting with Mandy. And they had saved a seat for the (get ready for spazzing) Taiko Drumming I was so looking forward to. God, I LOVED IT!!! I had read a manga on Taiko before and have been interested in it since, but this was my first live performance. Mere words cannot describe it! I had filmed the whole thing, but I forgot I was holding the camera and had started clapping as the camera falls in my lap. Epic. Just Epic. I filmed all of it, but here is the first part. You hear Mandy talk with Tiff near the end as I was fiddling how to press the 'end record' button.
I hope the video works, if not, I'll fiddle with it later.
I also bought a Taiko CD. Best ten bucks spent! Already have it in my iTunes.
So afterwards, I had gone back to the lobby of the building and glanced around. Tiff and Mandy had gone separate ways with their boyfriends and the third wheel whose boyfriend was busy didn't want to follow them.
I stood in the lobby watching some people practice calligraphy. Something made me turn around and all of a sudden, Squirrel was next to me. She's a ninja.
So we waited a few few minutes by watching and finally decided to try our hand. After the demonstration, I decided to try to write, what else, but, Usagi Hikari. She made it look so bloody easy...It's not. *Sigh* After practicing for a long time (and having Squirrel show off since she didn't pick one thing, no, she tried several different characters, including mine), I finally got it the best as I can for the final copy. After storing my copy away in the newspaper, I also got another paper with something that represents hard working, keep trying, the person there couldn't think of the word in English. It was really pretty too! Much better than my try at my name. (I'll get the pictures up soon)
Afterwards, Squirrel saw that there was a pottery event going on right before the tea ceremony. She dragged me along to the ceramic room. The volunteer there was actually my neighbor. This is what you get for living in a small town. Squirrel immediately helped him along so she could work on the wheel with red clay (I sat at the table looking over the stuff to do and chatted with Mandy, who had shown up). She made a bowl pretty quick and cleaned up her space and the one next to her while the demonstration was going on.
We quickly rushed back to the stage for the Tea Ceremony demo. There I found Tiff's boyfriend's little brother, AKA Squirrel's Freshman. Seating next to him, we settled in for the demo. Of course, we weren't expecting for them to ask for volunteers. Cue the last three people in the front row nearly jump out of their seats, raising their hands. Freshman had gotten picked along with another person from the other side of the audience. Before they started, Squirrel and I glared at him for a good minute before I started filming. Of course, I missed a bit since my camera decided that the batteries needed to be changed.
So afterwards, back we went to check on Squirrel's clay bowl (wasn't ready yet) before me showing off my origami skills and us rushing back to the stage to get a front row seat for the second Taiko drumming performance. While they were setting up, I had noticed that I had only about 30 minutes of video left. Cue me cursing inside. I cheated with filming so I still got all the songs and after only had 5 minutes left. So this was, at least I thought, one of the cooler parts of the performance.
Since this was the last performance of the day, Squirrel and I started heading back towards our houses, since we live in the same direction. Since I hadn't had anything to eat since morning (around 10 and now it was 3-4), my bag started to feel heavy and I started complaining about food. Then Squirrel started whistling. I stopped complaining about being hungry and started yelling at her over the cars going by. There was a nice quiet for a few moments, then she started whistling "It's A Small World". I was about to kill her. Good thing we were at the point where we part ways. I grabbed my calligraphy rice paper from her and have been working on blog posts since then. Remind me never to sit cross-legged while doing blog posts. I sit for too long.
Observant reader might be going "Wait, what about Squirrel's clay bowl?" Well it wasn't dry enough for her to add a foot to it or to clean the bottom. So we left it there, where it will be fixed and fired, then someone will call her when it's done. I for one, can't wait to see it.
So that was my oh so great day! I have been listening to the Taiko Drumming and watching my Korean Drama. I will finish this one. I have not finished one yet since each episode is over an hour long.
So Ja Matta for now!
